A sense of shock and grief has swept through Alexandria as news broke of a tragic shooting incident that claimed the lives of two Israeli tourists and one Egyptian national. The incident occurred in a popular tourist area, leaving the community in mourning and prompting swift action from local authorities.

The victims, identified as Israeli citizens Avi Cohen and Maya Rosenberg, along with Egyptian national Ahmed Hassan, were enjoying a visit to the historic city when they were tragically caught in the crossfire of the incident.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assailant opened fire near a bustling market square before fleeing the scene. Local law enforcement immediately launched a manhunt to apprehend the perpetrator.

Both Israeli and Egyptian authorities have expressed their deepest condolences to the families of the victims. The incident has triggered a collaborative effort between the two nations to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack and bring the responsible party to justice.

The attack has reverberated across the international community, with leaders from various nations condemning the senseless violence and expressing their solidarity with the affected families.

Tourism is a vital sector for Alexandria, and incidents like this one underscore the importance of maintaining a safe and secure environment for visitors. Authorities are redoubling their efforts to enhance security measures and ensure the safety of tourists and locals alike.

As investigations continue, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for ongoing vigilance and security measures in tourist destinations worldwide. The tragic loss of Avi Cohen, Maya Rosenberg, and Ahmed Hassan has left a profound impact on the community, prompting a renewed commitment to fostering an environment of peace and safety for all who visit Alexandria.

In June, three Israeli soldiers were killed in a firefight at the border with Egypt by a member of the Egyptian security forces who crossed the border “in pursuit of drug traffickers”, according to the Egyptian army.

On Saturday, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi warned of a “vicious cycle of tensions threatening regional stability and security”.
