Israel’s foreign intelligence agency, the Mossad, has issued a rare and direct message to Iranian civilians, publicly expressing support for popular dissent against Iran’s ruling authorities and signaling solidarity with protesters inside the country.
In a statement circulated on social media platforms and widely reported by regional observers, the Mossad addressed Iranian citizens with an unprecedented appeal: “Go out together into the streets. We are with you there. We have your backs.”
The message comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, alongside periodic waves of anti-government protests across Iranian cities driven by economic hardship, political repression, and demands for greater civil freedoms.
While Israel has long opposed Iran’s leadership over its nuclear ambitions, regional influence, and support for armed groups hostile to Israel, the public tone of the statement marks an unusual departure from traditional intelligence communication, which is typically discreet and indirect.
Security analysts interpret the message as psychological and symbolic, aimed at encouraging internal pressure on Tehran rather than signaling direct operational involvement. There has been no indication of immediate action accompanying the statement.
Iranian authorities have not officially responded to the Mossad’s remarks, but Tehran has previously accused Israel and Western governments of fomenting unrest and interference in its internal affairs claims routinely denied by those governments.
The development underscores the deepening confrontation between the two longtime adversaries, which increasingly plays out beyond military and diplomatic arenas, extending into information warfare and public messaging directed at civilian populations.
