Morocco’s annual “Marhaba Operation” has reached full momentum this summer, welcoming hundreds of thousands of Moroccan expatriates returning home via land, air, and sea. The nationwide initiative, now in its 24th year, is coordinated by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and aims to ensure a safe, dignified, and seamless return for Moroccans living abroad.
Launched in 2001, the Marhaba operation has become a vital pillar of Morocco’s strategy to maintain strong connections with its diaspora, especially during the busy summer season when travel volumes peak.
This year’s 2025 edition has recorded a sharp surge in arrivals, particularly through the Nador Port, prompting customs and border authorities to step up operational efficiency.
“Tangier Med Port continues to be a major entry point during Marhaba 2025, handling a large volume of Moroccan expatriates returning home,” confirmed Abd El Aziz Arifi, a senior customs official stationed at Nador Port. “Authorities have implemented enhanced customs and border procedures to manage the increased flow of passengers and vehicles efficiently, ensuring a smooth and safe transit experience for all travelers.”
Reception and support centers have been activated across major entry points, including Tangier Med, Mohammed V International Airport, Nador, and Agadir. These facilities offer a range of services such as medical care, administrative guidance, and childcare assistance to support returning families.
The Marhaba operation stands as a symbol of Morocco’s continued commitment to its global citizens, reaffirming national solidarity and belonging. With the 2025 edition seeing record participation, authorities remain on high alert to ensure safety, speed, and comfort for all travelers.
