His Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini has praised the conduct and academic dedication of emaSwati students currently studying at Ghana’s Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), following a positive report delivered by the university’s Vice Chancellor.
During an engagement with the group of ten students, King Mswati expressed delight at the reputation they were building for Eswatini through their seriousness, discipline, and academic focus.
“We would like to encourage you to work hard and be good ambassadors for other emaSwati students who would like to come and study in this big university,” the King said. “From your introductions, I could still see that you still show good respect, which is something we pride ourselves on as emaSwati.”
King Mswati noted that in his private discussions with the Vice Chancellor, he was briefed on the wide array of academic programs at KNUST and the expertise of its faculty. He urged the students to make the most of the opportunity to learn from such an experienced team and return home equipped to contribute meaningfully to national development.
“You will now be that link between us and the university,” he added, expressing hope that their continued presence would strengthen ties between KNUST and the Kingdom of Eswatini.
His Majesty is expected to return to the university later this week, alongside Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, to attend the final session of KNUST’s multi-day graduation ceremony. The annual ceremony, held over several days due to the large number of graduating students, draws dignitaries and families from across Ghana and the continent.
The visit marks a deepening of diplomatic and educational ties between Ghana and Eswatini, with KNUST emerging as a key academic destination for students from the southern African nation.
