Israeli security forces conducted a high-risk operation in the heart of Hebron, arresting a wanted militant inside a bank in what officials described as a “precise and strategic” mission.
According to security sources, undercover operatives from the elite Duvdevan Unit entered the bank disguised as ordinary customers before swiftly moving in on the suspect, who was reportedly moments away from opening fire.
The detainee is accused of carrying out a shooting attack in southern Hebron several years ago, an incident that left security forces on a prolonged hunt to track him down. His name has not been released, but Israeli authorities confirmed that he had remained on the country’s wanted list for years.
Eyewitnesses reported scenes of panic as the operation unfolded, but no casualties were recorded during the arrest. Security forces swiftly removed the suspect from the scene, with the bank resuming operations shortly afterward.
The dramatic capture is being described by analysts as a significant blow to militant networks in the region, marking the close of a long-running pursuit that has posed a persistent threat to stability in Hebron.
