German football powerhouse Bayern Munich has announced the extension of head coach Vincent Kompany’s contract until June 2029, rewarding the Belgian manager for his exceptional start to the 2025 season.
The former Manchester City captain, who took over at Bayern last year, was reportedly not the club’s first choice at the time of his appointment. However, he has since silenced any doubts by leading the team to 11 consecutive victories this season maintaining an unbeaten run across both the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League.
Expressing his gratitude, Kompany said he was deeply honored by the club’s trust.
“It’s been a great experience so far. We’ve started on a wonderful journey. Let’s keep working hard and celebrate much more success,” he said.
Club officials praised Kompany’s leadership, tactical insight, and the renewed energy he has brought to the squad. Bayern Munich’s president described him as “a leader who commands respect across all levels from players to management and fans alike.”
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen also lauded Kompany’s influence, stating that the coach has “brought the fun back to Bayern, and the spark has really caught on.”
Kompany, 39, retired from professional football in 2020 after an illustrious career as one of the Premier League’s greatest defenders. His rapid transition from player to manager has drawn widespread admiration across European football.
With his contract now extended for another four years, Kompany is expected to continue shaping a new era for Bayern Munich blending youth, discipline, and attacking flair as the club pursues further domestic and continental dominance.
