Israeli authorities have imposed a strict ban on public celebrations marking the release of Palestinians convicted of terrorism-related offenses in Judea and Samaria, warning that anyone caught cheering, distributing sweets, or organizing gatherings will face arrest.
According to local reports, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) distributed leaflets in Qalqilya on Sunday, explicitly cautioning residents against holding festivities. The leaflets read: “Israeli security forces will not tolerate any gatherings in support of terrorist organizations. This is a warning and we will be closely monitoring you.”
The directive follows Israel’s growing concern over recent displays of public jubilation following prisoner releases, which authorities say encourage violence and glorify terrorism.
Security sources said surveillance has been increased across several towns in the West Bank to enforce the order, with joint IDF and police patrols tasked with dispersing any unauthorized assemblies.
The move underscores Israel’s zero-tolerance approach toward acts perceived as support for militant groups, particularly amid ongoing regional tensions following the Gaza ceasefire deal.
