A striking new mural paying homage to American literary giant Ernest Hemingway has been unveiled in the coastal city of Liepaja, Latvia, further enriching the city’s growing reputation as a hub for contemporary street art.
Spanning an impressive 200 square meters, the artwork draws inspiration from Hemingway’s iconic themes of self-discovery, exploration, and the human condition. It now joins the official Liepaja Street Art Route as the 35th mural in the city’s curated collection a cultural initiative that has steadily transformed the urban landscape and attracted global visitors.
Created by the renowned French street artist Kroyal, the mural captures abstract elements symbolizing Hemingway’s adventurous spirit, from the solitude of the sea to the rugged resilience of human endeavor.
Kroyal, who has previously exhibited works across Europe and West Africa, is scheduled to return to France in August for a short break. He plans to resume his artistic journey in the autumn with new projects already lined up in both France and Benin.
Liepaja city officials have lauded the mural as a significant cultural contribution, noting its power to link global literary heritage with local creative energy.
The Liepaja Street Art Route, launched to revitalize public spaces through large-scale murals and installations, continues to be a key tourist attraction drawing art enthusiasts, photographers, and cultural explorers from across Europe and beyond.
