U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stark ultimatum to Hamas, warning the militant group that it faces total destruction unless it accepts a newly brokered peace agreement by Sunday evening.
In a lengthy statement, Trump described Hamas as a “ruthless and violent threat” that has long terrorized the Middle East, culminating in the October 7 massacre in Israel. He claimed that over 25,000 Hamas fighters have already been killed in retaliatory operations, with the remaining militants “surrounded and militarily trapped.”
Trump urged all civilians in Gaza to move south to avoid further bloodshed, stressing that humanitarian assistance awaits those who flee. “I am asking that all innocent Palestinians immediately leave this area of potentially great future death for safer parts of Gaza. Everyone will be well cared for,” he said.
The former president further announced that “great, powerful, and very rich nations of the Middle East” alongside the United States and Israel had signed onto a comprehensive peace framework, which he described as the first real opportunity for peace in 3,000 years. According to Trump, the deal spares the lives of remaining Hamas fighters if they release all hostages, including the bodies of those killed.
Trump set a deadline of Sunday at 6 p.m. Washington, D.C. time for Hamas to comply. “If this last chance agreement is not reached,” he warned, “all hell, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas.”
The ultimatum marks one of the most forceful public threats yet, with Trump asserting that peace in the Middle East will be achieved “one way or the other.”
