Acclaimed actress Keke Palmer has revealed how a timely gesture from Will Smith helped her navigate a challenging period in her early career as a Hollywood star.<\/p>\n
During a recent appearance on The Toast<\/em> podcast, Keke shared that at 17 years old, she considered seeking emancipation from her parents while working on the Nickelodeon series True Jackson, VP<\/em> (2008\u20132011). However, a phone call from Will Smith convinced her to reconsider.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cI got a call from this really obscure number,” Keke recounted on the November 19 episode. “I was like, \u2018What? This is weird, I’m not answering this.\u2019” After missing the call, she listened to a voicemail from the Hitch<\/em> actor, who had learned of her situation through her lawyer.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Imitating Will\u2019s voice, Keke recalled the message: \u201cHey, Keke. It’s Will. We’re over here doing Karate Kid<\/em> with [my son] Jaden. I just want to let you know I talked to [your lawyer]. He let me know everything you’re going through, and I want you to know sometimes it’s hard being the first, but you’ll get through.
