In a significant gesture of international cooperation, the Government of the Republic of Korea has
\npresented twenty-two (22) KIA vehicles to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration as
\npart of its commitments to support Ghana in its preparations towards the hosting of the 2023 United
\nNations Peacekeeping Ministerial Meeting from 5th to 6th December.
\nThis generous contribution underscores the long-standing partnership between Ghana and Korea in
\npromoting peace and security on the global stage. The 22 KIA vehicles include (twelve)12 saloon
\nvehicles and ten (10) vans.<\/p>\n
The presentation was made by Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Ghana, H.E.
\nJung-Taek Lim, on Monday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration. The
\nAmbassador expressed his country’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s efforts in hosting the
\nMinisterial meeting, “Ghana and Korea share a strong belief in the importance of maintaining global
\npeace and security. This contribution of vehicles is a testament to our shared commitment to this vital
\ncause,” Ambassador Lim stated during the official handover ceremony.<\/p>\n
H.E. Jung-Taek Lim reaffirmed the Government of Korea\u2019s readiness to further deepen cooperation
\nwith Ghana in the United Nations and other international fora. The Ambassador was of the hope that
\nthe vehicles coupled with the Information Technology (IT) products which were presented in July this
\nyear would assist Ghana to host the United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial Meetings Conference
\nsuccessfully in December.<\/p>\n
The 2023 United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial Meeting is anticipated to bring together high-
\nranking officials and ministers from various nations to discuss critical issues related to international
\npeacekeeping efforts. The event provides a platform for collaborative dialogue, strategic planning, and
\nthe exchange of best practices in the realm of peacekeeping operations.<\/p>\n
On her part, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey,
\nwho received the vehicles on behalf of the Government of Ghana, noted that \u201cthe occasion symbolizes
\nthe strength of the relations between Ghana and the Republic of South Korea and further underscored
\nthe importance Ghana attaches to the longstanding friendship\u201d. The Minister expressed gratitude to the
\nGovernment of Korea for extending support to Ghana in its preparations towards bringing the entire
\npeacekeeping community into the country. Hon. Ayorkor Botchwey took the opportunity to commend
\nAmbassador Lim for his role in securing Korea\u2019s support for Ghana for the upcoming 2023 UN
\nPeacekeeping Ministerial Meetings in December.<\/p>\n
