Whether it is a wedding or a baptism, we organise everything around it. It is the major annual event for us and for our children,&#8221; said village elder Bangaly Traor\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"838\" data-end=\"1041\">Dating back to the 14th century, <em data-start=\"871\" data-end=\"881\">Noradala<\/em> remains a symbol of unity and communal identity. Fishermen arrive from far and wide, while local youth maintain order and ensure festivities unfold peacefully.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1043\" data-end=\"1275\">\u201cThe collective fishing is done in peace and joy. It goes smoothly without fights,\u201d explained Moussa Camara, one of the young organisers. \u201cIt\u2019s even more important than Eid. If we all get along and hold hands, we can have strength.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1277\" data-end=\"1325\">Yet, behind the excitement lies growing concern.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1327\" data-end=\"1518\">The pond, central to the celebration, has been shrinking year after year. As water levels drop and fish stocks dwindle, local elders are worried about the future of their cherished tradition.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1520\" data-end=\"1694\">\u201cWe want to protect and develop this hand [heritage]. Because it&#8217;s part of our historical and cultural heritage,\u201d said elder Maramany Ciss\u00e9, calling for conservation efforts.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1696\" data-end=\"1855\">As dusk fell, the sound of jubilant crowds faded.
